ARTIST STATEMENT - NATURALLY ABSTRACT
Every day I see something in nature that blows my mind. The way the light comes through the clouds or the way the late sun illuminates the coral tree in our back yard, suggesting that attention must be paid. Art is an emotion for me. Trying to capture the “feel” of the sunset, ocean, or seasons will be a constant assignment to be satisfied.
The challenge of “Naturally Abstract” was a fun one. The task was to interpret the scientific theme of order and sequence of JS de Belle’s photography and translate it into an abstract, non-linear point of view. Giving some pieces a glass slide is nod to the land of microscopes and science labs.
Every painting tells a story that is individual to each viewer. That’s my favorite thing about this series…asking people what they see and how it makes them feel. Color is emotion and emotion is life.
